Letter to my Crush By Dammy n marvel

He is miles apart from me, yet he seems just a centimeter away, We've never spoken before, but I love him every step of the way, The same class, having the same classes everyday, But He has no idea, That someone right under this roof is superficially attracted to his splendiferous character, And I watch him as he comes in and goes out at intervals, The pace between his legs, His smile as he greets people, His laughter when with his friends, I am yet to comprehend the mystery behind this love that I have for him, This regular sensational feelings, this increase in my heart beat, The love shed in my heart when he is just an inch away, The completeness I feel when he is just around me, The oceans can never wave enough, the thunder can't strike enough, The birds can't sing much, the Lions can't roar as loud as, He's drowning me in the bosom of his awesomeness, It was just like a magic,  how the wind of love blew me off. Falling off my feet into a s

THE OUTCRY ECHOES By IMMANUELA PRECIOUS

Grains withered, When 'twas winter, Field in an ugly pasture, Stood in a stale posture, People were struck with mighty power, That could sink a tower, Hearts full of weeping blood, And makes the abode looks blurred, Impatient trampled them down, And tattered their faulty gown, They roar to the priest like a bear, And lamented unto him as a beer, Their outcry echoes annihilated the temple, And makes the cathedral trembled, Eagerness trapped those who anxiety pierced, And got them into a flame of fierce.

A VOICE IN THE STREET BY JOSEPH-SAM SARAH

A VOICE IN THE STREET Loving the face of solid wonders His mocked fame grew yonder Humble gestures to remember A tangled chains of troubled waters Built a storey cliff denial Every heart seek out farther Digging deep with rejected sober He was called "special". Painting old ruckus of emotions Wind of gratitude filled his expression Birth marks as old as an illusion Resides anonymously above all superstitions A filled cup of critic delusion Cry out in loud agonising celebration Not a word to soothes his frustration Wallowing gently in the world of rejection. O'er a thousand battles of pity Drenched away from clownish courtesy Bragging about hamlets; a lonely city He watches beyond duty Mildness and fairness covers not a dirt His presence abound to naught Chewing the heart of cold draught Things fell mysteriously;  a custom doubt. Bless his soul in grief abundance The brevity of courage touches his trance Admonishing the fruits of other

THE THING WITHIN A CIRCLE. ( A Short Story). EPILOGUE *********************** Some of her colleagues and students from the school stopped by to visit bringing with them cards and flowers, perfumes and deodorant, jokes and clownish attitude to laugh at. You prayed for her, never minding how short it was you said it anyway; "Lord, fill her with the spirit of divine healing". A prayer you had learnt from church last week.  Saturday came, there was no dinner whatsoever. The power holding company had failed to come to your aid, the candle lit formed scary shadows on the moronic wall. The opened window brought in air but you felt hot, silence swept the whole floor. Wanting to ease yourself, you had climbed out of bed and walked through the corridor that led to the toilet. Your surprised sight was turned sour when your mother's half opened door exposed an immoral act of shame. Your cerebrum became blank but you saw him, it was Tobun. The woman's velvet dress was torn

The Thing within A Circle (Episode 3) By Joseph-Sam Sarah.

*********************** 'How are you, Ene?' The smiling face at the door asked, his brow narrowed suspiciously. You stood mute like the question was rhetorical but you let him in smiling, a smile of curiosity and wonder.  Food was served, plain rice and stew, the aroma swept your eager thought and washed down the hunger residing in your stomach. Eating slowly, your sister's laughter diluted the stillness of the room while the other two adults winced with finny gestures. Their loud discussions echoed and vibrated continuously, voices shook and creak until the fading evening gave way to nightfall and their noises ceased to humid quietness. -----------------------  Sunday came quickly, bringing cold to the bare skin. The tiled compound looked wet as you stepped out from the kitchen door to give Mrs. Oluwagbenga the meat stock she had always wanted. Sauntering into their excessive kitchen, she smiled and giggled at the threaded hair your mom had plaited for you that mo

WHO SERVES WHO By Babatunde Silas

WHO SERVES WHO I grew up knowing leaders either appointed or elected are to serve Giving up their time, money, strength and verve I grew up knowing leaders are to sacrifice Give advice, always being precise I grew up knowing leaders are to love and care Knowing God is above whom they fear But all of a sudden, humanity now has no gravity Words of peace,  have turned words of insanity Hands that once fed us Now bring starvation to us Thought the bible says “promise is a debt” But now I guess promise has become a threat Leaders whom we appointed or elected Have now become thorns in our flesh by which we are all affected Democracy used to be ‘of the people, by the people and for the people’ Now it appears it’s against the people WHO SERVES WHO It’s all about the national cake Pretense all over, we fail to know who is fake They come before us making empty promises which we believe as they run their lips like sieves Because they want to lead And show their talen

When will we By Babatunde Silas

When will we start encouraging truth and embracing reality When will we start listening to words that touch and not negative words that crush When will we embrace those with talents like spoken word, oratory and poetry And not lame raps that involves dancing round the laps (grinding) When will we build self-confidence and push out fear to its residence When will we clap our hands to meaningful things and not shouting to hype filthy things When will we be of help to those who are in need and not joining to squander what is left beneath When will we stop talking and start acting When will our idle hands become tools to change our generation We sit down saying they have spoilt our country not knowing we are also agent of destruction cos once you are idle, negative thinking comes and becomes the title of our actions We all are living on past legacy which legacy do we want to live for the next generation. Be a problem solver, stand and write something on the scroll of life

The Travellers Tune By Joseph-Sam Sarah.

Image
An abode far away From home, from peace, from hale Little souls twinkled at night Breathing so loud to withstand Imagine their sights above Hung with fear, a tiny glow. The first a night Flying cockroaches eased in delight Troubled echoes lifting rescues All of them; a mocking coo Clued to one hole Ten miles alone. The wind goes overboard Mincing calmness, sweetened guts Has the trees grown their wings? Dropping their shells on shallows Wild and whirl watered the morning dew A stream of naked weed. The last a night Chasing away sobbing fright Bent in taking off branched ties Friends so many, outnumbered heirs Sarcastic bow of honour Blushed over the faces of four. Journey home, an empty rooftop Grinning like nightingale in love Between gushing belief Dried as wet sleeping leaves Not a stain of dew Thick dust on our humble sleeves.

THE THING WITHIN A CIRCLE. ( A short story).    EPISODE ONE  You had thought life was a 3D movie and so it would be for you, but the thorny storms made it seem like the horrific scenario in Hollywood crimes and chaise. It would have just been the perfect horror if your phone had not jerked loudly this afternoon.   'Hello Ene'. It was Ann. Curious about her excited tone, you asked.   'Whats up with the call?'   'He proposed'. She replied.   'And who is the HE?'   'Tobun Oluwagbenga. My boss in the office'.  The name consciously rang a blow in your heart that made you stutter.   'To-bu-n O-lu-wa-gb....?   'Are you okay, do you know him?.    The line went off. ***********************

THE PACE, THE TIMING (a true life story) By PAUL_SPEAKS

Image
Few days ago, I was fetching water with a friend. I carried a very big bowl of water, while he carried two, because of the size; I placed mine on my head, while he carried his with his two hands. Our destination was a two story building where he lived. Consequently, the buckets and bowl were filled with water, ready to be carried to our destination. Meanwhile, he lived on the 2nd floor of that story building. After helping me to lift my bowl so I could place it on my head, we started the journey towards home, I soon discovered that he was paced far ahead of me. I became really uncomfortable with this, so I decided to take giant strides. I also soon discovered that with each step i took to catch up with him, I was either wavering with the water on my head or staggering, despite that I was focused on keeping up with him because I didn’t want to stay at the back, as fate would have it, I got what I deserved at last, the water I carried on my head spilled out, stepping on it made me

EXCELLENCE IS A LIFESTYLE BY OJO SAMSON. T

Image
Martin luther king jr said "If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as a Michaelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say,'Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well." My meaning of excellence simply is, that whatever I have tried to do in life, I have tried with all my heart to do well; that whatever I have devoted myself to, I have devoted myself to completely; that in great aims and in small, I have always been thoroughly in earnest.  From  this: excellence is not a choice, it’s a lifestyle.  Take heed from Ralph Waldo Emerson who said, “Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an action and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny.” Excellence is to do a common thing in an uncommon way. In the land where excellence is commended, not envied, whe

BLACK DIAMOND A cave in Africa The western heart of invisible north Calling out, crawling high Above the deep of solid ocean Beautiful linen worn in mild ease Coated with an ice of peace. It gate of bounty valour Allied with passion, genuine earth Rays of courage shadowed it stapled trust Battered by strength, bruised by uniqueness Appearance if sigh admiration Heed to oath of allegiance. Torn apart by profanity,  it aura hovers around Leaving a tribal difference in accordance to colour The blacks and the blacks evenly dispersed Lives burnt in outspoken love Surely, surely it is Still are the waves of its sea. SOLPHIA BY SOUL'E RHYMEZ

Image
SOLPHIA Her posture is the future of the street boys I mentor, Her eyes are the height; so high, Her cliff cleavage caress their careless hearts, Her tight skirts cause them fights as they seek their route to freedom. Solphia is my phobia, She caused some up roar when she said it's all over, thus before it started I look for a cover. This makes me, but sober for others have never been loyal, They obey many masters' orders. They lost their royalty in their lust loyalty and now they are in jeopardy.

THE LITTLE I KNOW BY JOSEPH-SAM SARAH

Mirror, Mirror! By SIMPSON TOKS

Image
Mirror, Mirror! How many times do you look at a mirror in a day? Or how many of us didn’t look at a mirror today? Why do people look at the mirror? What’s so special about the mirror that some people spend hours in front of it? It has been established that during the slave trade era, our ancestors, exchanged as much as 100 to 200 of their kinsmen for just a mirror! That’s how much man wants to see a reflection of himself! I never understood the power of a mirror until late last year, when I stood in front of it for 30mins, just staring at me! I was not applying make up, I was just looking at me! That day I saw in me, what no one has seen-what I never saw before.

The Esseence of Life By Kola

Image
ESSENCE OF LIFE Sitting on my bed and having been eaten up by the guilt and regret of wasted years days, and time I ask myself that question that woke me up like a roaring lion .What Is The essence of life; it is a mysterious, intangible field of intrigue that has captured the imagination and the hearts of many. What is life? How can you describe the magic that surrounds us daily? The very essence of life fuels the heart of the world and without it our reality would exist no more. Yet every day, humanity seeks to destroy nature and all its beauty little by little, thus impacting upon the heart of this earth; resulting in the decline of the very essence of which our souls were born. What really makes up a meaningful life? Clearly, the essence of life is not construed in the same way by everyone as it stems from lifelong, personal experiences and lessons learned. In fact, some people go through an entire lifetime, missing the gist of it—lost in their daily routi

KEEP DOING WHAT YOU LOVE BY PAUL-SPEAKS

A senior friend of mine ones told me : "let's keep on doing what we love. The zenith awaits us all". A statement of fact and a reason to think. When we keep on doing what we love : We find peace and joy. We are sure of being successful even though it takes time. We are sure of progress. When we keep on doing what we love : All we see is a winner not a looser. All we see is the beautiful end not the challenges before it. When we keep on doing what we love: We keep on pressing on despite the struggles. We keep our weak hand behind and show forth strength. We overlook distraction and sight opportunities. When we keep on doing what we love : We create an unexisting  path to our goals if it doesn't exist. We create ways for opportunities even when they refuse to come. The Zenith awaits us all!

WIDOW SOLEMNITY BY JOSEPH-SAM SARAH

WIDOW SOLEMNITY Walt in, read the emotion Touch the lyrics of my solemn soul Find its aching sore that calls out rejection Wing down in silent, painted whole Fortitude of colours humble my naked sight. Summon over, break the truce Whisper aloud the jingling of my heart Allow it eyes roll in reckless gentleness Soothing and plain in what that matters Behold the sting of betrayal. Bother not, kiss my words Wrap the thoughts with softened tears Felony of pain covers my wrath Trembling and crushing in regretful fear Cleanse the thirty of my untold prime. Fugitive of smoke, blind my voice Circle it echoes with troubled water Moisture of dignity upholds the lot Bending and wavering in flame  tar Rest it peace on the platter of my truth. Acquitted soul cried in wretched happiness Dark apparel covers it known purity Wailing in genuine repentance Leavened boldness fades with familiar anonymous sympathy Stopping at the edge of confession. WHAT IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES BY JOSEPH-SAM SARAH

Sunset overcomes the peace of still night The rain triumph in winter Thunder strikes when its subdue anger rise Paranoia conceive visible trust and confidence But if tomorrow never comes. The blind robs falsehood of its savings The rich saves up for generational seconds Change beget power from grudges Eventually ending in the belly if sins But what if tomorrow never comes. Twinkles behold the eye of lightening Trees watch quietly to the tune of roaring wind Imitations continuously beat the heart of married belief Rivers flow like tides of blind distress But what if tomorrow never comes. Tongues gnash their teeth with enjoyment Tormenting ache becomes substitute for sweet death Hollow widens above singular threat The world paint itself while sinking in seas But what if tomorrow never comes.

My little chat with a crying boy By Paul_Speaks

Image
He shed tears with all his strength and looked confused, I moved close to him grabbed his hands and asked why he cried this hard, at first he wasn't responding because the reason for his tears took all he had, in no time I was also shedding tears like I already knew what had happened... When he saw the drops roll down my jaw he murmured and said ' It's 2 weeks I lost my parent and i have been abandoned and without help (in Yoruba) . As if I wasn't even shedding tears at first I started crying like I knew him from Adam, I drew him closer and told him YOU WILL SURVIVE, not because of anything but because you still breath and because no matter how the night falls the morning will surely come. The boy held me and said please I want to make it, I want to survive and I told him : You've started surviving and you have started making it, don't just say what you just told me act it... I took some time to pray with him.. He felt calm later and told me maybe

That Great Year!!! By Akindele Jomiloju

THAT' GREAT YEAR!!! The mighty Trees fell Wind blew incessantly Storm went crazy The Moon looses its elegance The stars lost it sparkle Yet I survived My compass lost its direction The sailors lost the ship to the waves The Toad refuses to croak but crackles Yet,I survived I buzzed, I mumbled, I babbled And blabbed That I had no shoe Then I saw a toddler without a leg With smiles on her beautiful face She shook her head and said, "I survived" Then I realised how blessed I am Of ingrates,I am chief Because HE lives, I'll survive

THE GHOST AND THE SEA BY JOSEPH-SAM SARAH

THE GHOST AND THE SEA Like an appearance, she sat with a burdensome smile Giving me her hands, it met my curiosity Blank expression formed around her longing eyes Without an invitation she visited continuously Then we touched, a stainless touch Emotionally, it felt so wrong Like a whisper of still air, she has no soul Her skin was stony cold. Wavering in pity i seized my fleeting cold Comfort and pity she rejected My trembling heart reached out for her hope Until they became solemnly connected Her shadow formed a friend While she stood counting my breathe The message was painted empty Mild warmth rose in bounty peace. Dawn fog showered in reckless duty Morning dew fell from rehearsed droppings Seaweeds watched in malicious pity The birds glare at her crystal being And my hands clasped her weeping feet Loitering in grudge, she sank and wept Tears hurting my skin, i moved in swift fear But her sob seem not so clear. Then again her wails mumbled in echoes Re

DRENCHED BY BELIEVE BY JOSEPH-SAM SARAH

When i was younger in understanding The opportunity to judge was zero Never having worries that warrant meditation Thoroughly in love with none but heroes I believed only in successful adults. The mind of an emotional non-racist Grew to become fully paranoid A child less than a decade mist Suffers in helpless warmth of cold fog Lips fell out from tasteless soup. Wearing their darkened yellowish thick skin They belched from water-filled thought Confused and convinced by this truthful myth The word " scrape the burnt pot" Became a muddled wishful joy. Killed by the hands of nobody Their dreams glow with neglected visions Near and promising, unable to touch it Known neglect aids the broken comfort Acquitted souls stood as a plaintiff. When i was older in confusion The opportunity to judge was zero Worries came; meditating for direction Others mock the flaws of heroes I conformed to believe in much faith.
